Deputy General Manager – Design

Embark on a journey of change with MAS, by joining the MAS Capital –  Intimates – Ratmalana as Deputy General Manager – Design to strategically lead and guide the design team to analyze and forecast upcoming trends for the season, work with customers’ requests as well as offer customers designs that enables samples to transcend straight to production, and to support in building MAS as a full-service design to manufacturing provider that continuously aims to achieve set business objectives

Key Responsibilities

  • Embody core values whilst taking lead in identifying and deploying key strategic initiatives in alignment to customer and business objectives.
  • Inspirational Leadership- Be a leading force in inculcating a culture of continuous learning and passion for excellence whilst developing a team that is versatile, flexible and agile in meeting dynamic market/ customer demands 
  • Take lead in driving cross divisional projects whilst demonstrating the ability to identify and or implement best practices to enhance the achievement of set objectives and to build the best team that is recognised across MAS. 
  • Adapt to changing market conditions swiftly and promptly by analyzing the consumer, brand needs and identify white spaces in the market whilst understanding the product categories and demonstrating market expertise to build ranges based on store layout / line architecture for customer base/ profile. 
  • Steer the team in identifying strategies and action plans whilst demonstrating an in-depth understanding of past, current and future aspirations of the business and customer in order to ensure achievement of set objectives
  • Provide leadership and guidance by analysing and forecasting upcoming trends for the season thereby ensuring achievement of set objective 
  • Keep track of the global micro and macro trends and translate that into product design to gain a competitive advantage to the organization.
  • Collaborate and work closely with internal and external stakeholders whilst influencing design thought process effectively to facilitate and drive results 
  • Ensure that Knowledge is cascaded across all levels and cross functional teams post travel / trade shows – updates on trends, colours, customer awareness, competitor analysis etc. 
  • To support and facilitate the design teams by making good decisions under pressure, allocating resources effectively and efficiently where teams move forward quickly and not be confined to status quo.
  • To drive the teams to deliver on projects and ensure that projects are completed on timewhilst demonstrating a strong bias for action
  • Invest time in nurturing and grooming talent:- Effectively manage talent using appropriate tool and processes by supporting the identification and development of skills and capabilities in order to ensure a steady pipeline of versatile bench strength is developed to meet organization goals 

Qualifications, Experience, Skill and Competencies:

  • Degree in Fashion Design 
  • 8+ years of hands-on design experience, 5+ years managing teams within the apparel industry and 2+ years playing a strategic lead role 
  • Marketing focused skills set will be advantageous 
  • International Exposure in Market (Front-end retail exposure is beneficial)
  • End to end knowledge on Product Development 
  • Ability to drive and develop a culture of continuous learning and passion for excellence
