Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the culinary leadership and operations team to identify the training needs and objectives of the Keells hot food operation and develop learning content.
  • Develop learning content during new product development, seasonal campaigns and other relevant campaigns as and when needed.
  • Conduct hands-on training sessions for Keells hot kitchen staff, including chefs, cooks and prep cooks and drive the annual training plan designed by the Keells Retail Academy (KRA).
  • Ensure the completion of classroom and online modules as per the given timelines and evaluate Keells’ kitchen staff performance during trainings and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain records of training sessions, attendance and assessments effectively.
  • Ensure the training completion of all supervisors assigned, as per the training pathway prior to allocation into outlet operations.
  • Ensure that the Advanced Retail Operation course, Introduction Course and second-line trainings are delivered effectively and conduct a quarterly curriculum review for the same.
  • Ensure the continuous development and career progression of hot kitchen staff at Keells by providing appropriate training materials and programs.
  • Train and identify Keells hot kitchen staff to take on leadership roles and participate in review programs for such staff with the Executive Chef.
  • Maintain a pipeline of well-trained second-liners to take up leadership roles at Keells hot kitchens when there are vacancies.
  • Execute quarterly knowledge assessment centers for the respective supervisors and develop low performers with PDPs.

Person Specifications

  • Should possess a Diploma in Culinary & Cooking/Pastry & Bakery(NVQ L 4).
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • A sound personality with good communication skills and IT literacy.
  • Patience and the ability to work well with diverse kitchen staff.
  • Organizational skills to manage training schedules and documentation.
