Job Description

SriLankan IT Systems drives the airline’s IT strategy through digital transformation, technology adoption, data modelling, business intelligence and business continuity. Focus is on transforming business and operational processes, expanding digital passenger reach and improving customer experience by solutions design, development and integrations while enhancing airline IT domain knowledge.

The post holder is responsible for overseeing the administration of large and complex enterprise server/database deployments in the airline, comprising diverse server infrastructure and multitude corporate databases. Contribute to IT infrastructure projects competently and carryout assigned work in design, implementation, maintenance and support of Oracle, MSSQL & other Database Administrator (DBA) services to meet or exceed set targets.

Maintain IT infrastructure and Application System requirements to operate business applications in its optimum capacity in-line with standard Operating Systems and Database Management Systems. Ensure the enterprise database systems are secure as per the industry standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Carry out predefined control procedures to ensure accuracy, integrity, security, and consistency of all system data maintained in databases and review daily, weekly & monthly performance reports in order to ensure the availability, reliability and business continuity of enterprise server/database setups.
  • Ensure infrastructure projects are completed within the planned targets in order to deliver on time services to customers. Also Provide support and technical inputs in creating, configuring and maintaining infrastructure, databases and databases related logs to fulfil Application/ System requirements.
  • Maintain and follow-up Backup Procedures, Disaster Recovery procedures and system policy implementation when performing database-related job tasks in order to ensure efficient error/fault recovery with minimum down times.
  • Carry out scheduled monitoring tasks attributed to performance of databases & logical data structures and render necessary actions to improve efficiency and resource utilization as well as to ensure that pre-defined levels of availability and performance targets are maintained.
  • Ensure targets are met in incident handling, request handling, change request handling and problem management.
  • Create, update and maintain with version control, proper documentation following company standards, related to all database administration functions including system diagrams, flow charts, hardware configurations, troubleshooting procedure and the like, in order to achieve quick response times when attending to a problem or investigating/tracing back frequently occurring problem areas.
  • Provide feedback/technical inputs for design and execution of upgrade plans, improvements to work procedures etc. to increase user confidence and satisfaction in the corporate Database Management system.
  • Co-ordinate with Application Development staff and assist in planning and providing data transfer facilities to fulfil the requirements demanded by application systems. Work with managed service partners to ensure that their services are configured and maintained to support service levels required by the business.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, General Science with Mathematics, Management Information Systems, Applied Statistics or Engineering from a recognized University with minimum of 02 year post qualifying Relevant Experience.


OR

  • Full professional qualification equivalent to NVQ Level 7 with 4 years post qualifying experience in a relevant discipline.
  • Age to be not more than 35 years as at 10th January 2024 which is the closing date.
